The Challenge
Leaking 78” Circulating water pump expansion joint. During a walk down inspection in August of 2008 by client’s personnel, it was identified that the expansion joint in question was cracked externally.
The Solution
HydraTite’s innovative repair of Circulating Water Expansion Joints
Engineers had walked down the project, reviewed drawings and system operating parameters and provided an engineered solution. This solution utilized the HydraTite Seal consisting of three (3) two piece 304 stainless steel bands, a double wide EPDM seal and a 16 gauge stainless steel backing plate to provide an internal slip joint repair.
The crew and all materials entered through an opening provided by client and were able to complete the system installation safely and within the work window provided by the station. Once the system was completed the engineering staff provided client’s engineers with the as built drawings so that they could complete the design change package.
